MAXIKLEID

Schnittmuster:

Für mein Maxikleid habe ich ebenfalls US-Grösse 24 genäht (entspricht DE 52/54), wie schon bei meinem Probestück dem Agnes Nr. 1, T-Shirt Probeteil 

Pattern:

For my Maxi Dress I chose size 24, the same as for my  Agnes N°1, Tee Muslin  

Anpassung Halsausschnitt:

Für den Ausschnitt und das Ausschnittband habe ich das Schnittmuster vom Laundry Day Tee von Love Notions Sewing Patterns  verwendet.  

Ich habe das Schnittmuster am Stoffbruch und oben an den Schulternähten angelegt und den Ausschnitt für das Vorder- und Rückenteil übernommen. 

Changing the neckline:

For the neckline and the neck band I used the pattern of the Laundry Day Tee of Love Notions Sewing Patterns.  

I  aligned the pattern on the fold and on the shoulder line and drafted the neckline for the front and the back pattern. 

Anpassung Ärmel:

Die kurzen Ärmel habe ich zu Flügelärmeln abgeändert. Dabei habe ich die Weite um 50 % vergrössert (ausser direkt unter dem Arm).

Hacking the sleeves:

I changed the short sleeves to fluttering sleeves by adding 50% to the width of the sleeves, skipping the underarm area.

Stoff:

Der Stoff besteht aus Viskose und Lycra und wurde bei Minervacraft bestellt.  Der Stoffverbrauch war 3m x 1.60m. Der Stoff ist eher schwer, fällt dadurch aber sehr schön und zeichnet nicht so sehr ab.

Fabric:

The fabric is made of Viscose and Lyra and was ordered from Minervacraft.  I used 3m x 1.60m. The fabric is dense but drapey and doesn't reveal all the bulges.

Zuschnitt 

Das aufwendigste beim Zuschnitt des Stoffes war, das Muster optimal zu platzieren (längs oder quer? wo ist dunkel, wo ist hell?) 

Ich habe den Stoff auf dem Zuschneidetisch nochmals gebügelt, damit er schön flach liegt. Dann liess er sich mit dem Rollschneider einfach zuschneiden. 







Cutting:

The most time consuming, before cutting the fabric, was to find the ideal placement of the fabric pattern ( horizontal or vertical, where to put dark zones, where light zones?)

I ironed the fabric again on the cutting table, to make it lay flat. After that it was easy to cut with the rotary cutter.

Nähen:

Die Nähte habe ich mit dem Overlock-Stich auf meiner Nähmaschine geschlossen, mit der 4 mm Zwillingsnadel habe ich die Säume genäht und die Nahtzugabe am Ausschnittband gesteppt, damit sie flach liegt.

Das Kleid habe ich bei einer Körpergrösse von 1.68m 10 cm kürzer genäht.

Beim Nähen haben sich die Nähte ausgedehnt. Nach kurzem Bügeln waren sie jedoch wieder flach. Ich habe bis jetzt noch keine Erfahrung, ob das bei jedem Jersey so funktioniert. Beim unteren Saum habe ich 12 mm Nahtband für Jersey aufgebügelt.

Sewing:

The seams I closed with the Overlock Stitch on my sewing machine. With the 4 mm twin needle I've sewn the hems and the seam allowance on the neck band, so it would lay flat. 

Before seaming then length I put the dress on a hanger overnight to let it settle. Being 1.68m high I shortened the dress by 10 cm. 

After sewing, the hems of the sleeves were streched. A quick ironing flattened them. I don't have enough experiences to tell if this works with all the fabrics. For the bottom hem I used 12 mm stay tape.

Fazit:

Die Passform an der Brust ist für einen Jersey i.O. , wobei es beim Viskosejersey mit 2 Weg-Stretch besser sitzt als beim Probestück das nur 1-Weg-Stretch hat. Um das zu verbessern, werde ich evtl. bei der nächsten Agnes von der Grösse 20 ausgehen (entsprechend meiner Brustansatz-Weite) und eine FBA ohne Abnäher nach der Methode von Helens closet oder Maria Denmark vornehmen.

Ich bin mit dem Schnitt sehr zufrieden und finde ihn auch für kurvige Damen empfehlenswert, da er am Busen eher körperbetont sitzt, die Taille andeutet aber Bauch und Po umspielt ohne sackig zu wirken. Die verschiedenen Ärmel und Längen bieten viele Anwendungsmöglichkeiten. Bootsausschnitte finde ich für grosse Busen nicht so vorteilhaft, da die Stofffläche zu gross wird. Dafür haben wir ein Dekolleté, das wir zeigen sollten.

Conclusion:

The fit at the bust is ok for a Jersey. Even though the fit is better on the Viscose with 2-way stretch than on the muslin with 1-way stretch.

To improve the size I probably will choose a size 20 (according to my high bust mesurement) and do a FBA without dart as shown here Helens closet or here Maria Denmark and grade the waist / hips to size 24.

I'm very happy with the pattern and it's very flattering for curvy ladies as well, because it has a fitted bodice, a slightly accentuated waist and a forgiving flow round the belly and bum without beeing baggy.

The various sleeves and lengths admit a lot of different looks. I think boat necks are not flattering for ladies with big boobs. There is too much fabric, we have some cleavage to show.
