Fleece Hut / fleece hat
Mein Kopfumfang beträgt 58 cm. Damit der Hut trotz der vielen Lagen gut passt, den unteren Rand 60 cm weit nähen. Den Link zum Schnittmuster Grösse 58 findest du hier (Schnittmuster ohne Nahtzugabe)
I've sewn this hat from the remnants of my fleece coat. I was inspired by Siebensachen In her blog she shows the making of her hat. I'd like to give some more detailed informations.
My head circumference is 58 cm. For the hat to fit well, despite the many layers, sew the lower edge 60 cm wide. The link to the pattern size 58 you find here (pattern without seam allowance)
Rand:
Für den Rand 5 Streifen von je 3.5 cm Breite und 62 cm Länge zuschneiden. Die Streifen rechts auf links und links auf rechts (7 mm Nahtzugabe) aufeinander nähen, d.h. einmal die gelbe Seite aussen, einmal die schwarze Seite aussen usw. Die Nahtzugaben sind dabei auf der rechten Seite zu sehen, was ein interessantes Muster ergibt. Natürlich kann der Rand auch einfarbig genäht werden und mit Biesen verziert werden.
Den fertigen Rand wie auf der Skizze angegeben zuschneiden.
Crown:
Cut 5 strips of 3.5 cm width and 62 cm length for the crown. Sew the strips right to left side and left to right side (7 mm seam allowance), once the yellow on the outside, once the black on the outside, etc. The seam allowances can be seen on the right side, whhich creates an interesting look. Teller:
Das Schnittmuster für den Teller wird wie folgt berechnet: Oberer Umfang 57 cm + 4 x 1 cm für die Abnäher = 61 cm = Umfang des Tellers
Jetzt ein bisschen Mathematik: Durchmesser = Umfang / 3.141 = 19.4 cm
Meinen Teller habe ich oval zugeschnitten, d.h. Länge = 20.4cm, Breite = 18.4cm
Wie du einen Kreis ohne Zirkel zuschneiden kannst, siehst du hier:
Falte ein Blatt A4 4-mal. Zeichne bei beiden Schenkeln die Länge von 10.2 cm ein. Verbinde die Punkte und schneide entlang der Linie. So erhältst du einen Kreis.
Um ein Oval zu schneiden faltest du einen Viertelkreis und zeichnest die Masse wie auf dem Bild ein. Punkte verbinden und ausschneiden
Den Teller mit Nahtzugabe zuschneiden
Bottom:
The pattern for the bottom is calculated as follows: upper circumference 57 cm + 4 x 1 cm for the darts = 61 cm = circumference of the bottom. Now a bit of math: diameter = circumference / 3,141 = 19.2 cm I have cut my bottom piece in an oval shape: Length = 20.2cm, width = 18.2cm
How to make a circle without a compass you can see here:
Fold a sheet of paper 4 times. Measure on both edges 10.2 cm. Join the points and cut. You achieve a circle.
In order to get an oval you fold a forth of the circle and measure the amount on the photo. Join the points and cut.
Cut the bottom with seam allowance
Krempe:
Wenn man die Krempe als geschlossenen Kreis ausschneidet, steht die Krempe senkrecht ab. Wenn man sie etwas nach unten oder nach oben gebogen haben möchte, muss man einen offenen, grösseren Kreis ausschneiden.
Ich habe einen 80% Kreis gewählt. Er berechnet sich wie folgt: Umfang unten 60 cm / 80% = 75 cm. Durchmesser = 75 cm / 3.141 = 23.9 cm (Oval 23.4 cm x 24.4 cm)
Wieder ein Oval ausschneiden, wie oben erklärt, aber diesmal den äusseren Teil behalten. Mit Hilfe des Massbandes innen die 60cm + NZ abmessen und den Rest wegschneiden.
Die Breite der Krempe ist vorne 6 cm und hinten 4.5 cm. Die Krempe 2 x mit Nahtzugabe zuschneiden.
Brim: If you cut the brim as a closed circle, the brim is standing vertically. If you want to bend it slightly downwards or upwards, you have to cut out an open, larger circle. I've chosen an 80% circle. It is calculated as follows: lower circumference of the crown: 60 cm / 80% = 75 cm. Diameter = 75 cm / 3.141 = 23.9 cm (Oval 23.4 cm x 24.4 cm) Cut out an oval again, as explained above, but this time keep the outer part. Measure with the help of the measuring tape inside the 60cm + seam allowance and cut away the rest. The width of the brim is 6 cm at the front and 4.5 cm at the back. Cut the brim 2 times with seam allowance.
Nähen:
Ich habe alle Teile mit Vliesline verstärkt, da der Fleecestoff nicht genug Stand hatte. Bei Filz oder stabilem Loden kann man evtl. darauf verzichten.
Damit der Teller leicht gebogen ist, werden in allen 4 Richtungen vom Rand Richtung Mitte Biesen genäht. Am Rand wird ca. 1/2 cm abgenäht, auslaufend über eine Länge von ca. 6 cm.
Den Rand zum Ring zusammennähen.
Die Krempen zum Ring schliessen, aufeinander nähen und verstürzen.
Alle Teile zusammennähen, dabei aufpassen, dass die Nähte in der hinteren Mitte liegen und an das längere Ende des Ovals genäht werden.
Ich habe den Rand mit Fleece gefüttert und den Teller mit einem Baumwollstoff. Das Randfutter wurde dabei als 4. Lage nochmals auf derselben Stepplinie angenäht, d.h. Rand-Krempe oben-Krempe unten-Randfutter. Anschliessend alles auf links drehen und das Tellerfutter an das Randfutter rechts auf rechts zusammennähen und dabei eine Wendeöffnung lassen. Nach dem Wenden die Wendeöffnung von Hand zunähen.
Den Hut nach Belieben mit Blumen, Knöpfen oder Schleifen verzieren.

I reinforced all parts with Vliesline because the fleece fabric was not stiff enough. With felt or stable loden one can possibly do without it.
In order for the bottom to be slightly bent, tucks are sewn in all four directions from the edge toward the center. At the edge 1/2 cm is sewn, going to nothing at a length of approx. 6 cm.
Sew the crown to a ring. Close the brims to a ring, sew on each other and turn. Sew all parts together, making sure the seams are in the back center and sewn to the longer end of the oval. I lined the crown with fleece and the bottom with a cotton fabric. The crown lining was sewn as 4th layer on the same stitching line: crown - top brim - lower brim - crown lining. Thanks to my work horse ELNA this was no problem. Then turn everything to the left and sew the bottom lining and the crown lining together right to right side, leaving an opening. After turning the whole hat, close the opening by hand stiching. Decorate the hat with flowers, buttons or a bow, to your liking.

Das ist ja toll! Der Hut ist fantastisch geworden, herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Gewinn des Wettbewerbs. Und vielen Dank, dass du mich und meinen Hut in deinem Beitrag erwähnt hast. Ich freue mich immer, wenn ich Hobbykolleginnen bei ihrem eigene Tun anregen und inspirieren kann. Umgekehrt ist es ja genau so.
